Solar offset: should you cover 100% of your electricity use?
Solar production ÷ your annual use. 100% offset makes about as much as you use in a year — not every hour or month.
100% offset is the default target in many quotes, but under net billing the last 20–30% is often the least valuable because most of it is exported at low rates.
Planning an EV or heat pump? Size for future use, or leave roof space and inverter headroom to add panels later.
What this means for you: Try 70%, 100% and 120% offset in the planner and watch payback and lifetime savings change.
