solarplanbuilder.com is run by Solar Plan LLC (“we”). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Estimates, not advice
Everything on this site is a planning estimate. It isn’t an engineering assessment, a quote, or financial, tax or legal advice. We aren’t an installer, lender, utility or government agency.
Results depend on assumptions that may not match your home: roof condition, shade, your electrical panel, your utility’s current rules and prices, incentives and your tax situation. Some assumptions are marked illustrative. Rules, rates and incentives change, and our figures may lag behind. Before you sign anything, confirm the details with a licensed installer, your utility and a tax professional.
No guarantees
The site, its tools and its data are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The site may be unavailable, change or contain errors.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Solar Plan LLC and its owners won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost savings, profits or data, arising from your use of the site or from decisions you make based on it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to US$100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Links to other websites
The site links to other websites, such as manufacturers’ product pages. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, products or practices. We don’t currently earn a commission from any link. If we add affiliate links later, we’ll label them next to the link, and a commission will never change our calculations or the order in which we show options.
Using the site fairly
You’re welcome to use the tools for your own planning and to share plan links. Please don’t:
- scrape the site or call its tools or services in automated bulk without our written permission;
- try to disrupt, overload or break into the site, or get around its limits;
- present our estimates as a binding quote or as coming from someone else;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
Our content and data
The site’s text, design, graphics and code belong to Solar Plan LLC or its licensors. The datasets on our open data page are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), as stated there, and third-party data remains subject to its source’s terms. Otherwise, don’t copy or republish substantial parts of the site without permission. Quoting short passages with a link back is fine.
What you send us
If you send feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve the site without owing you anything. Please don’t send confidential information. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
Your responsibility
You’re responsible for how you use the site and for your decisions. If your misuse of the site or breach of these terms causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept it. We may also change or discontinue any part of the site.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Solar Plan LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located there, unless the law requires otherwise. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
